After long hours of anticipation and listening to “The Doomed,” “Disillusioned,” and “TalkTalk” on repeat dreaming of what A Perfect Circle could possibly do differently to their sound – finally the day of reckoning has come. Just before the release of their fourth studio album Eat the Elephant (scheduled for release on April 20th 2018) A Perfect Circle is set to play an intimate night at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, CA on April 17th. While the album is not set to come out until three days later, it is safe to say A Perfect Circle will be testing their new material on core fans close to their hometown – Los Angeles, California.
Eat the Elephant is the first album in which the band worked with an outside music producer, Dave Sardy. It is said Sardy helped band members James Keenan and Billy Howerdel find a musical common ground and finish the album in a cohesive manner. Sardy is a twelve time grammy award winning music producer who has worked with names like Jet, Marilyn Manson, and Oasis. Sardy is also known for film scores, and particularly cinematic feeling music. His work includes the films 21, Zombieland, and End of Watch. Band member, James Iha, however will not be present at the April-July performances of the Eat the Elephant promotional tour due to his prior commitment to play with the Smashing Pumpkins reunion shows. Iha is still a member of the band, but during his absence Greg Edwards of Failure will be filling in.
While it is difficult to say what new sound A Perfect Circle will bring with Eat the Elephant, it is certain their show at the Arlington Theater on April 17th will be a once in a lifetime experience.
