Maroon 5 has the Red Pill Blues at the Forum on June 4th

After months of hearing What Lovers Do, Don’t Wanna Know, and Cold on the radio, you can finally go out and see these songs live – and I’m sure at this point – very confidently sing along to every word. Adam Levine (original member and lead vocalist), Jesse Carmichael (original member and keyboardist, rhythm guitarist), Mickey Madden (original member and bassist), James Valentine (lead guitarist), Matt Flynn (drummer), PJ Morton (pianist), and Sam Farrar (multi-instrumentalist) are now touring their album Red Pill Blues.

Red Pill Blues is Maroon 5’s sixth studio album, and while this album is no Songs About Jane, it is clear that they have truly mastered the pop genre. The album’s title references The Matrix, suggesting choosing a life of bliss and wonderland (the red pill) but then feeling regret or longing for the past. This theme is carried through with a blend of synthetic upbeat rhythms, but lyrics like “I’m stuck in this vision” and “all I asked to you was to prove to me that you were real.” With features from SZA, Julia Michaels, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, and Future the album provides a diverse yet cohesive blend of fun – un offensive songs to dance to with any group of friends or coworkers.

Looking for a night in the Matrix yourself? Don’t miss Maroon 5 at the Forum on June 4th.
