Tool Have Finally Begun Recording First New Album Since 2006

Tool have entered the studio to begin recording their first album since 2006. This is not a joke. Tool have entered the studio and have begun tracking for a new studio album, as reported by The PRP.

Guitarist Adam Jones posted an Instagram picture of his guitar setup in the studio, meaning that his claim that the band would be recording this month is in fact true. This falls in line with what frontman Maynard James Keenan has said in recent weeks, namely that he is finishing up his vocal lines for the new songs. For years fans have been clamoring for the band to record new music, yet all four members would only offer cryptic responses in interviews. Things began to take shape late last year when drummer Danny Carey said that a new Tool album would be coming out in 2018, but his claims were then shot down by Keenan on Twitter, leading many fans to believe the band was once again pulling their leg.

A couple of people, such as Tom Morello, have heard snippets of the new music, but outside of a brief instrumental the band has been performing at recent concerts, we don’t know what the new record will sound like.

Despite being one of the biggest bands in the world, capable of headlining festivals and selling out concert dates in a matter of seconds, Tool has not released a new album since 2006’s magnificent 10,00 Days and since the bands recorded output totals four albums and one EP over the course of their 25 year career, fans have been desperate for the group to put out more material.

It appears that dream will become a reality at some point this year.

UPDATE (3/8): Adam Jones has posted a photo on Instagram showing himself in the studio with producer Joe Baressi. It appears that this album might actually really happen after years of waiting.
