This year’s Festival of Disruption will not only be held in Los Angeles but will also be headng to New York. Host David Lynch will be providing the event which features live music, live speaking, screenings, art and meditation on May 19 and 20 to Brooklyn Steel.
Musically the event will feature performances by Animal Collective, a DJ set by Flying Lotus, Jon Hopkins, Angel Olsen, Au Revoir Simone, Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Rebekah Del Rio. Lynch curated the entire event and will be on hand leading a series of talks, including a screening of Blue Velvet with actress Isabella Rossellini and There But Not There with Gregory Crewdson.
There will also be an exhibit highlighted by short film Psychogenic Fugue, which features John Malkovich portraying various classic Lynch characters. Fans can meditate to the music of Brian Eno’s Reflection, there will be shop type booths with jewelry and Lynch merchandise along with art exhibits featuring the work of William Eggleston, Lynch, Sandra Miller and David OReilly.
The festival has not failed to be attractively diverse in the past. In 2017 the event featured the likes of Bon Iver, TV on the Radio, The Kills, Sharon Van Etten and Laura Marling. There was also a screening of the Lynch film Lost Highway along with guest collaborators including Bill Pullman, Ed Ruscha and Laura Palmer. The 2016 event featured a lineup of St. Vincent, Robert Plant, Rhye, Jon Hopkins, Sky Ferreira, Xiu Xiu, Angelo Badalamenti and a DJ set by Questlove.
Tickets, including music only tickets and two-day packages with limited edition CDs and posters, go on sale Thursday, March 8 at 10 AM and net proceeds benefit the David Lynch Foundation.
