Gang Of Four Announces New EP Complicit for April 2018 Release And Share New Song “Lucky”

One of the most prominent English post-punk groups of the 80’s, Gang of Four has putting out projects ever since the late 70’s, with their eighth studio album What Happens Next released in 2015. Their last appearance was on tour with Omaha band The Faint back in 2016, but lead member Andy Gill, who’s been with the band ever since their inception, has been prepping their return ever since. With returning bassist Thomas McNeice, vocalist John Sterry, and drummer Tobias Humble, Gang of Four is set to release their new EP Complicit on April 13th April 20th.

Produced by Ben Hillier (Depeche Mode, Blur), the first single “Lucky” is “a product of chance,” says Gill in a press release. “I’d been watching a serious debate on one of those financial news channels – six white men in suits arguing about the stock markets – and it set me thinking about how limited luck can be. America’s demented ringmaster-clown claims to have bestowed fortune on the markets. He believes himself the master of luck… Even if you believe market crashes are the result of bad luck rather than layer upon layer of human and machine error, the system shudders, restarts and goes on as before.”

Listen to the new song “Lucky” below, with Gang of Four’s new EP Complicit out April 13rd.

UPDATE (4/4): Gang of Four have released the artwork and track list for the Complicit EP, which will now be released on April 20th. The name of the EP suddenly makes a lot more sense with the covering featuring an image of Ivanka Trump. Ivanka has always presented a more moderate foil to the at-times far right wing policies of her father’s administration. However, many – and it seems that Gang of Four is among them, find her relatively silence on his most controversial policies and opinions to be complicity.

1. “Lucky”
2. “Ivanka (Things You Can’t Have)”
3. “I’m A Liar”
4. “Lucky (10 O’Clock Chemical Remix)”
