Matt And Kim Announces New LP Almost Everyday for May 2018 Release

Matt and Kim has kept to their promise and will be returning this Spring with their new album, Almost Everyday, due to be released in May.

Following from the 2015 New Glow album and their 2016 EP, We Were The Weirdos, the 10 track album features several guest collaborations that included Kevin Morby, Kevin Ray from Walk the Moon, Mark Hoppus and Flosstradamus, who appeared on the “Forever” single released last month.

One of the inspirations behind the indie album was the life changing injury that Kim Schifino suffered last spring that resulted in a torn ALC.Having a major impact on the LP, the incident had an even bigger impact on the LP which was described as “their most personal, emotionally-charged release yet.”

Further elaborating Matt Johnson explained that 2017 was not a great year for them, “Kim got real depressed during her recovery, and anyone who knows Kim (or has seen her play) knows she’s such as bad-ass upbeat person so it was hard. Then of course almost everyday it seemed like there was another terrible headline. I feel since the beginning of music people have used writing songs as a form of therapy, but I’m not sure we ever really did…until 2017.”

Giving fans a taste of how the epic release is their uplifting single embodying the strength of persevering through their darkest time, “Like I Used to Be.”

The song takes fans back into a reminiscent time of Matt and Kim being young and carefree, mirroring the personal sentiment that runs throughout the album looking at darker times and the need for change and to persevere. Although a terrible incident, Matt and Kim wrote music almost everyday following the accident, forced to take a year off from touring, the band used the time as an extensive recovery for Kim but a creative motivation that fuels the album.

Heading back on tour this March, the dates includes groups such as Tokyo Police Club, CRUISR, TWINKIDS and label mates, FUTURE FEATS. Performing two intimate shows in upstate New York before making stops in LA, Houston, Chicago, Brooklyn, Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival, Mexico City and more.
