Fawns of Love are a married couple out of Bakersfield, CA, Jenny and Joseph Andreotti. The two craft a hazy sort of psychedelic dream pop and on “Zine Days” the band channels 80s influences into that framework. Today, mxdwn has the premiere of the new video for that song, a visual that fits in well with the aesthetic of the song.
The stop motion video is in fact an homage to the seminal New Zealand rock label Flying Nun. “We think Flying Nun had the coolest roster on the face of the planet during the 1980s and 1990s, and they still do,” Joseph explains. “A lot of our favorite Flying Nun bands, like The Chills, The Bats, and The Clean, used stop motion in their music videos. We think those bands are ridiculously cool, and we want to be like them. We aimed to capture the theme of the song by surrounding Jenny with objects she would have used during her adolescence, and by making it in 3-D we thought it would be a nice way to overdose on nostalgia.”
The song is seeing a physical release along with the B-side, “Something Stupid,” on March 2 on 7″ vinyl with a 3-D sleeve and matching 3-D glasses. The duo released an album last year called Who Cares About Tomorrow . Both members of the band work as full-time teachers and have performed together for 16 years (being married for 13 of them). After they took some time away from music while Jenny completed a post-graduate program, they came back with a new project and a new band name. Fawns of Love has one upcoming show in Los Angeles.
