Kate Nash Announces Spring 2018 Tour Dates

On the coattails of Kate Nash’s recent album announcement for Yesterday Was Forever is another announcement of a North American tour set to begin in the spring. The dates of the tour are linear even if the tense in her album’s name is not. Beginning April 4th in Vancouver, Nash and her all-female group will spend three weeks traveling across the United States.

Yesterday Was Forever is an excerpt from Nash’s teenage diary. She suggests through her music that the difficulty of being a teenager is more understood now than it used to be. She remembers being made fun of for writing in a diary; she feels now that a teenager writing in a diary could be something other than social suicide. It could even be the basis for a studio album.

“Yesterday was forever is about your dreams being trapped in a time capsule, being caught in a moment for too long, and looking back through heart shaped glasses,” she says.

Nash released a video for “Drink About You” last Friday that delivered the pop song within a video that is its visual equal. The song and the video are meant the convey the increasing momentum Nash will experience as an artist in 2018.

She explains that the song is about relationships. Obsession can lead to false impression, she says. “It’s an unhealthy obsession, you imagine things are better than they are and latch on to whatever you can about the relationship that could be turned to good.” The video includes Nash’s friend Liz Nistico, from Holychild. The two met on the set of a video that Nistico directed for her band’s song, “Rotten Teeth.”

“I admired Liz as a director and was so inspired by seeing a different side to her creativity. I knew I wanted her to direct a music video for me one day,” says Nash. Now, Nistico is in a video for one of Nash’s songs.
