Karen O Joined Kristin Kontrol at Girlschool to Perform Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Date With The Night”

Day one of this weekend’s Girlschool got started in a big way tonight, with a “special guest” appearance finally living up to the hype. Joining Kristin Kontrol (aka Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls) on stage this evening was none other than alternative icon Karen O.

She performed a Yeah Yeah Yeahs song “Date With The Night.” That song is from the New York City band’s breakout album Fever to Tell, which launched them into the stratosphere of the alternative world and Karen O one of the best new vocalists, female or otherwise.

The next two nights promise to offer more excitement at Girlschool, which has become an institution in the Los Angeles music scene. Saturday will feature Shirley Manson of Garbage, Amber Coffman and more, while Sunday’s biggest performer is the rapidly-rising Bay Area artist Jay Som.
