Andrew W.K., the American music producer, multi-instrumentalist and all-around party animal, is back with his first full-album of original material since 2009. Titled You’re Not Alone, the new album is “more epic than ever,” as stated in the official press release, promising to deliver “everything one would want and expect from an Andrew W.K. record, and more — high octane, rock ’n’ roll powered by buoyant, infectious, and jubilant melodies.”
The first single, “Music Is Worth Living For,” accompanies the announcement of the forthcoming record, and it’s a sweeping guitar anthem that boasts classic Andrew W.K. refrains and declarations. According to Andrew W.K. in the press release, the track “is an exaltation of my love for music itself.” He continues, adding that “it’s also me pleading with myself to recognize music’s eternal power and glory, in the face of hardship and pain. The song is an effort to remind myself that life is worth living, if for no other reason than because of the beauty music conveys.” “As the last line of the chorus proclaims ‘music makes me want to stay alive,'” he says, “that’s probably the truest lyric I’ve ever written.”
Catch Andrew W.K. at the Treefort Music Festival in Downtown Boise, ID from March 21-25, as well as the tracklist and album artwork for You’re Not Alone, due out March 2nd via Sony Music Worldwide here. Listen to the single “Music Is Worth Living For” below.
