The Australian singer-songwriter who needs no introduction, Sia, released a music video for her new song, “Santa’s Coming For Us.” The album from which this single came has a name that posits something that can never be true. Sia released Christmas Is Everyday only days before releasing a video for its opener. The album includes ten songs that all have a different take on end-of-year musical traditions.
“Santa’s Coming For Us” turns a popular song title on its head. What had been a jovial disincentive for bad behavior—‘Santa’s coming to town—becomes a lock-you-door warning. The video depicts an exaggeratedly ideal suburban Christmas dinner that looks like a scene from Jordan Peele’s Get Out. Led by actress Kristen Bell, a family goes about its business preparing for guests. A father fiddles with Christmas lights; children sing backup for their mother as she puts finishing touches on the house. The glitz of this family invites viewers to foresee a sinister ending. It is a relief to see J.B. Smoove poke his head out of a chimney as guests start to arrive. A whole cast of cameos proceed into the house, including Dax Shepherd, Henry Winkler, Susan Lucci and Caleb McLaughlin.
