According to Billboard, an emotional video for Gregg Allman’s cover of Jackson Browne’s “Song for Adam,” was released Friday (Dec. 8), which would have been Allman’s 70th birthday. The song, about a man discovering that his friend committed suicide, is beautifully recorded with a warm nostalgic feel. Allman passed away months after cancelling his tour in late 2016 from unknown causes since Allman suffered a variety of health issues in recent years.
“I still remember laughing with our backs against the wall, So free of fear, we never thought that one of us might fall,” is sang while a biker cruises down long winding roads with his friend on motorcycles. The song was originally released in 1972, inspired by Browne’s friend Adam Saylor. The pair rode from California to New York together, and Saylor died the next year after jumping from a hotel in Mumbai. See the video below.
