The 2018 Grammy Nominees are here. As mentioned by Noisy, the Big 4 categories are revealed — best new artist, record of the year, song of the year, and album of the year. Jay-Z leads the set with eight nominees, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars. SZA is 2018’s most Grammy-nominated woman with five nods; Khalid, Childish Gambino also scored five nominations. Lorde is a nominee for Album of the Year, and notably, this is the first year that a white male was not nominated for that category. Cardi B continues to be a breakout success story, as earning a Best Rap Performance nomination for “Bodak Yellow,” which is also nominated for Best Rap Song, while one-time Grammy Ed Sheeran gets only two nods for 2018.
Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber are up for Record of the Year with “Despacito” and have also rounded up a handful of nominations for the Latin American Music Awards. The National, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem and Gorillaz are all nominated for Best Alternative Album with Sleep Well Beast, Everything Now, American Dream, and Humanz. Queens of the Stone Age and Metallica are nominated for Best Rock Album with Villains and Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, Portugal. The Man is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with “Feel It Still” and Chris Cornell is nominated for Best Rock Performance with “The Promise.”
