Marfa Myths Announces 2018 Lineup Featuring Wire and Recording Residencies by Bradford Cox and Cate Le Bon

According to the Brooklyn Vegan, Marfa Myths, an annual music, visual arts, and film festival just announced their 2018 lineup. The festival is an “annual music festival and multidisciplinary cultural program founded in 2014 by Ballroom Marfa and Mexican Summer.”

Headliners and other performers include Wire, Tom Zé, Suzanne Ciani, Innov Gnawa, Connan Mockasin with his father, Ade Mockasin, Terry Allen, Thor & Friends, Ryley Walker, Jessica Pratt, and more. In addition, there is a site-specific “Gravity Hill” audio / visual collaboration featuring filmmaker Jem Cohen with Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), plus Jim White, George Xylouris, and Jessica Moss. Jesse Moretti is the festival’s visual artist in residency.

Marfa headliner Wire is an English rock band formed in 1976, best known for their album Pink Flag and track  “1 2 x U.” Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who was influential in the Tropicália movement of 1960’s Brazil, Tom Zé is also headlining the event, best known for his track “Jimmy, Renda Se.” In addition, Suzanne Ciani will headline. Ciani is an Italian-American who has been named America’s first female synth hero, being one of the few women working in sound design during the 1970’s.
