My Morning Jacket confirmed today that their last tour until 2019 will be a three-night run of New Years Eve shows in Broomfield, Colorado. They will pay at 1st BANK Center and will be joined by Prince’s band, The Revolution on December 29th. The next day tUnE-yArDs will take the stage with them and Karl Denison’s Tiny Universe on the last day of the tour and of the year.
My Morning Jacket’s members have all individually had fruitful years. Bo Koster, keyboardist, just finished the Us + Them Tour with Roger Waters and is already preparing for his own band’s 2018 tour. Carl Broemel joined Koster to play on LaMontagne’s upcoming album. Broemel is also going on tour this November to promote his second solo album, 4th of July.
Jim James announced recently an album of covers that have already been made famous by various artists. James’ version offer a new take, and will be available on December sixth. James used The Beach Boys’ “I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times” as the single to announce the album.
“‘I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times’ is a song that has spoken to me very deeply from the first time I heard it,” says he says. “So often, many of us just feel like we don’t fit in, like somehow we were dropped into the wrong life at the wrong time. This song has such a beautiful way of resonating with that energy and relating to the pain of life on earth, but also offering hope and comfort in the beautiful sounds of togetherness.”
Clearly, the band members have their own things going on heading into 2018. That will not stop their final three shows to deliver, though.
