Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Gets Himself Together New Song “Fort Knox”

Two years ago alternative rock band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds released their second album Chasing Yesterday, an experimental sound album that went on to be well received by music critics. Two years later Noel Gallagher and his band consisting of Mike Rowe, Gem Archer, Russell Pritchard and Chris Sharrock have went on to headline Manchester Arena reopening after the suicide bomb attack at an Ariana Grande concert this past September and announced the arrival date of their upcoming third album Who Built the Moon? will be on November 24th.

Since the announcement, Gallagher and his crew have the released the album’s first single “Holy Mountain,” an upbeat and energetic track with a chorus that resembles Ricky Martin’s 2000 hit “She Bangs.” With November being around the corner, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds continue to prepare for the arrival Who Built the Moon? they recently released their second single “Fort Knox,” another uptempo song that is heavily influenced by another huge artist.

Chasing Yesterday must have been a sign for fans of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds to expect a drastic change with his music. The well respected rocker who was known for making mid tempo hits such as “Stop Crying Your Heart” and “Wonderwall” with his former band Oasis, has added more pep to his music, giving it a different type of energy that attracts listeners from other genres. Chasing Yesterday and “Holy Mountain” show how Gallagher is experimenting with different sounds that have influenced him and his new single “Fort Knox” is no different.

In a press release Gallagher talked about how hip hop artist Kanye West’s 2010 hit “Power” played a big part in the creation of “Fort Knox” stating “ It was the last track finished on the last day in the studio. It started from a conversation talking about the Kanye West track ‘The Power’. The singer, Y-See, had never even heard the track and she started to do this vocal over it and it was like: fucking hell! It all just fell in to place.” Much like West’s “Power,” the mid tempo production of “Fort Knox” gives off a dark feeling that is lead by strong choir sounding chants. With a second single like this, “Fort Knox” prepares us for the diversity of sounds that Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will display on their upcoming album Who Built the Moon?
