As has been the case in recent years, multi-talented vocalist/instrumentalist Mike Patton has scored the new Stephen King Netflix adaptation of the novella 1922. This marks the 2nd film score that Patton has composed, after his brilliant work on The Place Beyond the Pines. The expanded score for 1922 will be released in 2018 via Patton’s Ipecac Recordings label.
Patton first rose to fame when he took over as the lead singer in Faith No More, spearheading the band’s off-kilter musical approach to hard rock and metal that made them one of the most influential groups of the late 80’s and early 90’s. After Faith No More’s breakup, Patton resurfaced in many different projects, from his collaboration with Dave Lombardo of Slayer in Fantomas to recording with his first band Mr. Bungle to the establishment of Ipecac.
In recent years Faith No More have regrouped with Patton back at the helm, though he has recently said that the band is currently taking a break and won’t be recording or touring anytime soon. Meanwhile Patton once again hooked up with Lombardo in the hardcore band Dead Cross, who just recently released their self-titled debut album and completed a successful tour that saw Dead Kennedy’s frontman Jello Biafra join them on stage for a reimaging of the Dead Kennedy’s classic “Nazi Punks Fuck Off,” retitled “Nazi Trumps Fuck Off.” The remaining members of Faith No More have kept quiet since last year’s re-release of their debut album We Care a Lot and a couple of performances with original frontman Chuck Mosely.
