Emily Haines Transforms “American Dream” by LCD Soundsystem in Stripped-Down Cover

As mentioned by Pitchfork, frontwoman of Metric and member of Broken Social Scene, Emily Haines shared new cover of LCD Soundsystem’s “American Dream.” The title track is off of LCD Soundsystem’s recent comeback album. You could pardon James Murphy for feeling tense about restoring LCD Soundsystem after their epic bowing-out in 2011. But when David Bowie pushes you to do something, you are almost obligated to take it to heart.  Bowie’s influence is all over American DreamEmily Haines tweeted that “American Dream” is “excellent + addictive.” Listen to her cover below.

Haines recently released Choir of the Mind under her solo name Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton, her first full-length solo LP since 2006’s Knives Don’t Have Your Back. She recently contributed to Hug of Thunder, the latest album from Broken Social Scene.
