King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard promised to release five full-length albums this year, and they’re looking to make good on that promise. Three LP’s deep, the group just released a new song “Crumbing Castle,” and some accompanying visuals.
Right off the bat, the track calls back of 70’s/80’s jazz, think Billy Cobham and Chic Corea with some Parliament and some psychedelic rock mixed in. It’s groovy and trippy and awesome. The eleven minute odyssey hits a kaleidoscope of genres, transitioning towards the doom end of the spectrum by the time the whole thing wraps up.
The accompanying visuals are full of lo-fi visual effects, something that you’d find as a screensaver on your Windows ’98 computer. The jazz outfit recently appeared at this year’s Beaches Brew Festival along with Thee Oh Sees, Shellac, and The Coathangers.
