The Antidote Tour With Daedelus, Free The Robots, Mono/Poly @ Union Nightclub 11/18

The Antidote Tour featuring Daedelus, Mono/Poly and Free The Robots is coming to the Union nightclub Nov. 18. For a very reasonable price of $15, anyone over 21 can come get their faces melted off with trippy visuals and roaring, remarkable songs. The craftsmanship that these three artists have is incomparable to others. Make sure you cop your ticket now before it’s too late; this will be an action-packed night full of fun.

Daedelus, also known as Alfred Darlington, is a Los Angeles-based producer. He’s just as distinct in music as his taste in fashion is–Daedelus is dandy to the core. Founded in 2001, he is also part of the groups The Long Lost (with wife Laura Darlington) and Adventure Time. He is also affiliated with the internet radio station Dublab, often appearing on their station.

As a child Daedelus was classically and jazz trained in multiple instruments. After having an epiphany at age 15 in London, he joined local rock bands, jazz bands and ska bands back in the states. However, something was still holding him back. Inspired by Warp Records, Ninja Tune and other electronic artists, Daedelus began to DJ. Originally he was interested in creating drum and bass, but everything he created pushed the boundaries originally drawn by his influences.

He has released 14 solo albums, 14 EPs and 9 singles since the beginning of his music career. All of his music is intricate, complex and cohesive. He’s worked with the Gaslamp Killer and Busdriver. The amount of remixes he’s done is out of this world, the list including the likes of Baths, Nosaj Thing, Flying Lotus and Open Mike Eagle. His most recent album, titled Labyrinths, was released in 2016.

Known as Charles Dickerson, Mono/Poly is an electronic producer from Bakersfield, California. His first EP came out in 2009, titled The George Machine. Next, he released his debut LP, Paramatma (2010). Mono/Poly joined Flying Lotus’ record label Brainfeeder in 2011 and released the EP titled Manifestations shortly after. He then self-released the EP titled Killer B’s the following year. After 2 years, the highly anticipated album Golden Skies was released through Brainfeeder.

The artist has earned the praises of both Radiohead and Erykah Badu, along with collaborations with Badu and Kendrick Lamar, according to Union Nightclub’s event page. Mono/Poly also pops up on releases through Warp Records and Planet Mu, along with fellow artists FlyLo and Nosaj Thing, according to Union Nightclub. Mono/Poly released the EP Cryptic in 2016, to favorable reviews. He recently released the EP Union, which you can listen to via bandcamp.

Breaking down barriers through injecting traditional jazz elements into old school hip-hop and psychedelic sounds, Santa Ana native Free The Robots holds a large, loyal underground following across the globe. Also known as Chris Alfaro, Free The Robots began as a side project in 2003 that blew up beyond belief. Truly eclectic and experimental, Free The Robots continues to create dainty melodies wrapped in crisp, avant-garde beats.

Just like his colleagues, the artist has little musical boundaries, if any at all. He has released 7 EPs and 3 LPs, along with releasing a ton of singles. His first album, Prototype, came out in 2005. His second album, Ctrl Alt Delete, was released five years later via Alpha Pup Records to favorable reviews. OC Weekly named it one of the strongest local albums released in 2010, calling it “fearsome and sophisticated instrumental album.”

His third album, titled The Balance, was released in 2013 through Elsewhere Studios. Two years later he released Sempervirens with Opio via Pinky Up Records. This year Free The Robots teamed up with Lefto to release the album Karavan (2017) through New Los Angeles.
