Alison Mosshart Joins Foo Fighters for Performance of Their New Song “La Dee Da” at CalJam

The Foo Fighters’ Cal Jam headlining appearance lived up to its anticipation. They wowed the audience with a jam packed 23 song set, featuring several covers/mask ups with special guests this past Saturday at the San Bernardino festival. The Festival also featured: Queens of the Stone Age, Cage The Elephant, Liam Gallagher, The Kills, Royal Blood, Japandroids, Wolf Alice, Bob Mould, The Struts, Bully, Circa Waves, Babes in Toyland, Adia Victoria, Fireball Ministry, The Obsessed, Pinky Pinky, Starcrawler and White Reaper.

While performing one of their new songs, “La Dee Da,” from their album Concrete and Gold, the band brought out Alison Mosshart, who had performed earlier with her punk band, The Kills. Mosshart is featured on back up vocals on the album for “La Dee Da,” as well as ” The Sky Is A Neighborhood.” Mosshart and Dave Grohl both contributed their head-banging and luscious locks, as well as their commanding vocals to the song. Meanwhile, Dave Koz added a scrappy saxophone solo that managed to be more metal than mellow.

According to Consequence of Sound, the band also brought Rick Astley (“Never Gonna Give You Up”), Liam Gallagher (Oasis), and Joe Perry (Aerosmith) to the stage to perform mash up melodies. They first performed mash up of “Miserlou,” “Cat Scratch Fever,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Smoke on the Water,” and “Banana Boat Song (Day-O),” as a band. Then they performed a hard-core cover of “Never Gonna Give You Up,” with Astley, a cover of “Draw the Line,” with Joe Perry, and to top it off a whopping performance of  The Beatles classic “Come Together,” with Joe Perry on guitar and Liam Gallagher on vocals. The band definitely provided a killer finish for the music filled weekend.
