The Mountain Goats released surprise EP Marsh Witch Visions on Bandcamp last night. The band is an American indie folk band formed in Claremont, California led by frontman/singer-songwriter John Darnielle. The five song EP features four songs influenced by the life of the legendary Ozzy Osbourne and a home demo version of “Rain in Soho.” According to Stereogum, the band was apart of an anti-Trump charity series called “Our First 100 Days” that promises “one hundred songs that inspire progress and benefit a cause for change.” This EP serves as a belated thank you from the band to those who donated to the charity back in April. The album was recorded by Scott Solter.
The Mountain Goat’s last tour was in 2016 which included special performance at Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco, they also played a show at the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles in June for a very enthusiastic and endearing crowd. Their most recent album Goths was released in 2017.
