First Charles Bradley, and now Tom Petty. It hasn’t been an easy couple weeks to be a music fan. Petty passed just a couple days ago, and already there has been a massive outpouring of love and tributes from fans everywhere. Bob Dylan, Ezra Koenig, Paul McCartney, Ryan Adams, Lorde and The National have all shared memories and moments of inspiration, and now The Fleet Foxes have joined the list.
Last night, the Fleet Foxes played the Chicago Theatre, and played a tribute of “Don’t Come Around Here No More” as an encore. “I wanted to play this song, I thought it could speak to it… we really miss Tom. Tom Petty.” The iconic synth’d out 80’s rock anthem translates shockingly well to the Fleet Foxes laid back indie style.
