Besides giving us cans of energy drinks that give us wings, Red Bull has also supplied us with mini-festivals and live music events that set the standard for live music entertainment. Take for instance their upcoming Sound Select weekend in Philadelphia, with female focused lineup with acts like Syd, Noname, The Dove & The Wolf, Girlpool and many more, it’s safe to believe that Red Bull will be able to live by that standard and give the city of Brotherly Love an unforgettable show at the Underground Arts and Trocadero Theater this month from October 12-14. While anticipation for the Red Bull event grows, some of the musicians on the bill, along with couple who aren’t, congregated in a gymnasium in South Philly to do an updated version of The Cranberries’ “Linger.”
According to UPROXX, Shamir, The Dove & The Wolf, Sad 13 and Queen Of Jeans, all met up to play together for the first time while covering the 90’s classic. While discussing about learning the song, Sadie Dupuis of Sad 13 said “For a poppy, four-chord song, I was surprised at some of the weird arrangement choices hidden in the structure. ‘Linger’ has a math rock heart. It’s also cool that 4 of us showed up intending to play guitars, and somehow in spite of an almost complete lack of planning, we all pre-wrote different parts, so doing it live came together very naturally.” Below you can checkout the video of Shamir, The Dove & The Wolf, Sad 13 and Queen Of Jeans performing their cover of The Cranberries “Linger.”
