It’s always intriguing when artists from different genres come together to make music. By collaborating and bringing elements of their world to the studio, these musical experiments have the capability to become something that even the artist themselves didn’t see. A recent sample of this would be Swedish electronic music band Little Dragon and American R&B singer Faith Evans coming together to make a soulful pop groove called “Peace Of Mind.”
Both Little Dragon and Evans had already dropped new albums this past spring, Season High (Little Dragon) and The King & I (Faith Evans), before uniting to make “Peace Of Mind.” According to Pitchfork, while working on “Peace Of Mind” with producer Raphael Saadiq, Little Dragon was unsure what to do with song. Since the direction of the track was unsure Saadiq came up with the idea to add Evans on Little Dragon’s new song. The Los Angeles Times reported that the Swedish band’s lead vocalist, Yukimi Nagano, was excited to work with the respected R&B singer stating “It was kind of like a dream come true. I still can’t really get that it happened, and when I listen to the song I feel really honored to be on the same track as her.” By combing Nagano’s gentle tone, Evans soulful harmonies and Saadiq’s unique ear of production, “Peace Of Mind” sounds like a tune that has the ability to soothe the listener’s mind.
