Mono/Poly, Zeke Beats, Tru, Radius @ Low End Theory 10/11

Every Wednesday night needs a little bass. Lincoln Heights, get ready for a favorite. Mono/Poly is coming to the Airliner’s Low End Theory Oct. 11 with Zeke Beats, Tru and Radius. And of course residents the Gaslamp Killer, Nobody, Daddy Kev and D-Styles are on the docket to perform as well. Low End Theory is a weekly experimental hip-hop and electronic music night that takes place every Wednesday. Founded in 2006 by experimental producer and Alpha Pup Records label head Daddy Kev, Low End Theory is easily the center of the Los Angeles instrumental beat scene.

The blends that come out of this club night are absolutely eclectic: psychedelic, IDM, trip-hop, glitch, avant-rap and dubstep are just some of the genres that come out of those speakers. Tons of prolific artists have come out of the beat scene that Low End Theory has harbored, including electronic dj, producer, rapper and filmmaker Flying Lotus. Low End Theory garnered attention after a multitude of surprise performances by Thom Yorke. The catch is that every show only costs ten dollars, even when high profile people come around. “If tickets were left to auction online, they’d bring in enough to fund a state Senate campaign,” wrote Jeff Weiss for the LA Times in 2011.

Mono/Poly has been coming through the club night for awhile and he never disappoints. Also known as Charles Dickerson, Mono/Poly is an electronic producer hailing from up north in Bakersfield, California. His first EP came out in 2009, titled The George Machine. Next, he released his debut LP, Paramatma (2010). Mono/Poly joined FlyLo’s record label Brainfeeder in 2011 and released the EP titled Manifestations shortly after. He then self-released the EP titled Killer B’s the following year. After 2 years, the album Golden Skies was released through Brainfeeder. Mono/Poly released the EP Cryptic in 2016, to favorable reviews. He recently released the EP Union, which you can listen to via bandcamp.
