This one is going to be fun. Waka Flocka Flame is coming to Los Angeles Nov. 18 for the Circle V Festival held at the Regent Theater. Circle V is the first-ever music festival dedicated to celebrating animal rights and benefitting nonprofit animal protection organization Mercy For Animals. An amazing event expertly put together and tailored by Spaceland, Mercy For Animals and KCRW, Circle V’s core mission is to promote animal rights. Appealing to vegans and non-vegans alike, this year’s event will have live music and DJs, vegan food and beverages (beer gardens as well as non-alcoholic kombuchas), speaker panels, a vegan vendor village and more, according to the event page. The all ages event is one for animal lovers everywhere.
Circle V is about inclusivity, celebrating their core message with vegan family while also bringing animal rights issues to the masses and inviting all to be a part of their mission. The artists performing are unique, eclectic in taste; Moby will be there, DREAMCAR will be also be in attendance; Raury will also perform and so will Reggie Watts. Starting at $35 for a ticket for the festival, the performances from these artists will be breathtaking and danceable. What brings everyone together is their passion towards animals rights.
Waka Flocka Flame, also known as Juaquin Malphurs, is a Southern rapper hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. Citing his influences as Eazy-E, Gucci Mane and Lil Jon, Malphurs began his rap career in 2009 with his debut mixtape titled Salute Me Or Shoot Me. Gucci Mane took notice of Flocka and signed him to Brick Squad Records, propelling the artist to release a plethora of mixtape releases, according to Spotify. His debut LP, Flockaveli, was released through the Asylum label in 2010, debuting at number 6 on the US Billboard 200. His second studio album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family was released in 2012, debuting at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and receiving favorable reviews from critics. His third album, Flockaveli 2, is set to be released Oct. 5 of this year, according to a 2017 XXL article.
Moby, also known as Richard Hall, is an American producer and DJ known for his work as an animal rights activist. His first album, Moby (1992), was released through Instinct Records to favorable reviews. Moby’s breakthrough album was his fifth studio album, titled Play (1999), that gained international success. The album broke onto the US Billboard charts, peaking at number 38 on Billboard 200. The album also broke onto over 15 other countries’ music charts. His following album, 18, was released in 2002 to favorable reviews. A prolific figure in electronic dance music, he has an extensive discography featuring 14 studio albums since 1992. His albums has crossed over into many genres from techno, house, downtempo, ambient and even alternative rock. AllMusic described him as “one of the most important dance music figures of the early 1990s, helping bring the music to a mainstream audience both in the UK and in America.”
