Goldenvoice + FYF Present Interpol @ El Rey Theater 9/28

Interpol is coming to the El Rey Theater 9/28 and you definitely won’t want to miss it. Just announced last week via a tweet from FYF Fest, tickets for the concert went on sale a couple days ago. Considering that their show at Exposition Park the 30th is sold out, here’s one more last shot to cop a couple of tickets for what’s supposed to be an intimate evening. According to LA Music Blog, there’s only a certain amount of tickets being sold, but that’s not what will make the evening a night to remember. What makes this show special is the fact that all of Interpol’s debut album, Turn On The Bright Lights, will be performed in full that night.

American rock band Interpol formed in New York City 2 decades ago– in 1997. Interpol is one of several groups that emerged from the post-punk revival of the 2000s, taking cues from bands like Joy Division and the Chameleons. Heavy on snare and equipped with a dark, morose and empty vibe courtesy of singer Paul Banks, Interpol is the type of band you light up a cigarette to. After putting out a few EP’s, the band signed to Matador Records and subsequently released their debut album in 2002 to critical acclaim. The album was certified gold in the US and the UK. The album made it to the tenth position on the NME’s list of top albums in 2002 and number 1 on Pitchfork Media’s Top 50 Albums of 2002.

Next came the album Antics, which was also certified gold in the US, the UK and Australia. In 2006 the band moved on to Capitol Records, releasing Our Love To Admire (2007), their third LP, to favorable reviews. The album was certified silver. In 2010 they went back to Matador Records and released Interpol, which broke onto the US Billboard charts, peaking at number 7. After that, the band stepped back until the release of El Pintor in 2014. Interpol has embarked on multiple world tours in between album releases. Overall, the band has put out 5 studio albums, 7 EPs, and 14 hit singles since their inception.
