Utah alternative rock band the Used just announced their fall tour with Long Island’s Glassjaw and it’s hard to not be excited about it. From Oct. 27 to Nov. 29 the bands will tour across the US, stopping in Los Angeles for only one night on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Used are wrapping up touring in support of their studio album Imaginary Enemy (2014) and are also celebrating the anniversaries of their self-titled debut album and In Love and Death (2004). Glassjaw is currently working on a new studio album that will follow their highly acclaimed album Worship and Tribute (2002), as previously reported by mxdwn Aug. 21.
The Used formed in Orem, Utah in 2001. Consisting of Bert McCracken, Quinn Allman, Branden Steineckert and Jeph Howard at the time, the band put out their debut album in 2002, shortly after signing to Reprise Records. The album tackled a multitude of topics and was both genuine and raw. The band followed up with their second album, In Love and Death (2004) and their third album, Lies for the Liars (2007). Shallow Believer, an EP that featured most of the band’s B-sides, was released the following year. Their fourth studio album, Artwork, was released in August 2009. A fifth album, Vulnerable, was released in 2012 through the independent label Hopeless Records. They released another EP titled The Ocean of the Sky during the summer of 2013. Their sixth and latest album to date, Imaginary Enemy, came out in spring 2014. Their next studio album is planned for summer 2017. [2]
Glassjaw is an American post-hardcore band that helped define and refine their music genre. The band, headed by vocalist Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck, has been essential in the progression of the post-hardcore scenes in the eastern United States and United Kingdom. They are also well known for their intense shows, according to website the Grixer. The band has put together six demos, four EPs and two studio albums, Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence (2000) and Worship and Tribute (2002). Currently signed by Warner Bros. Records, Glassjaw was previously signed to Roadrunner Records and had well-known fallout with them over their debut album. Their second album Worship and Tribute fared way better, breaking onto mainstream charts and peaking at number 82 on the Billboard 200 in 2002. The album tested new waters for the band, breaking free from the previous sound on their first LP. Tracks like “Ape Dos Mil”, “Cosmopolitan Blood loss” and “Mu Empire” are ambitious, introspective and dynamic. NME Magazine listed Worship and Tribute as one of 20 “Emo Albums That Have Resolutely Stood The Test Of Time” in a 2015 article.
