Goldenvoice Presents: Giraffage With Sweater Beats At The Fonda Theatre 11/29

Giraffage’s latest album Too Real is coming out in mid October, so it’s only natural that the San Francisco-based producer would go on tour to support it. Hitting San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles, Angelenos will have the opportunity to cop ticket to see him perform at the Fonda Wednesday, November 29th. Tickets for both shows, with special guest Sweater Beats, went on sale Friday, August 18, at 10 a.m. for $15 to $26 each plus service fees. Tickets can still be purchased through AXS.

Giraffage, also known as Charlie Yin, is an American electronic music producer best known for his airy lofi and light-hearted indie style. A self-described “music nerd since day one,” Yin, who is of Taiwanese descent, began his love affair with music in middle school. Never seeing it as an actual career, Yin focused on a more traditional career path through schooling. But by the time he graduated college in 2012, he was playing shows across the globe, according to his profile on the Fonda Theatre’s website. Giraffage signed to Alpha Pup Records in 2013 shortly before the release of his second mixtape. To date, he has released two mixtapes, Needs (2013) and Comfort (2011); two EP’s, Pretty Things (2011) and No Reason (2014), a bunch of cohesive singles including one with XXYYXX, and now the LP on October 20th.

For the last year and a half, Giraffage has toured and played major international festivals while writing his forthcoming LP. The album, which takes sonic and stylistic cues from such groundbreaking acts as Yellow Magic Orchestra, Haruomi Hosono, Soichi Terada, Interpol, and Radiohead, “is a return to my musical interests and roots,” he explains, according to the Fonda’s artist bio page. If you want to give one of the dreamy tracks off Too Real a listen, check out “Slowly” featuring Matosic on Giraffage’s bandcamp page.

Sweater Beats is Brooklyn-based R&B dance project of Antonio Cuna, an EDM musician. He released his debut single “MLLN DLLR” (“Million Dollar”) in 2012, according to his Spotify bio page. He followed the single with That Feel (2013), a largely sample-based EP released by Symbols Recordings. Following that, he released Cloud City in 2014. Known for producing remixes of artists like Kimbra, Chet Faker and Flume, Sweater Beats released a series of original singles in 2016, including “Did You Wrong” featuring MAX. Most recently he released the track “Altar” featuring R.LUM.R and “Glory Days” featuring Hayley Kiyoko, which Complex Magazine argues could be the biggest hit of his entire career so far.
