The legal battle between singer Kesha and record producer Dr. Luke may finally be coming to a close. The series of lawsuits has run since 2013, and the only way you might be able to get the full scoop is checking out this fantastic Wikipedia article. In short, Kesha accuses Dr. Luke of sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, and just about any other heinous act you can imagine. In return, Dr. Luke is counter suing for breach of contract and defamation, some of which charges have recently been dropped.
The latest in this ongoing story is that Lady Gaga has agreed to give deposition. Gaga has been a vocal supporter of Kesha throughout the process, and Dr. Luke’s legal team recently subpoenaed Gaga, requesting in-person deposition. According to her lawyers, Gaga “has provided all of the relevant information in her possession and is at most an ancillary witness in this process.”
Despite the ongoing legal troubles, Kesha’s career is flourishing. Last week, she released her first new album in five years, because of complications with her Dr. Luke-affiliated record label. This has come alongside multiple music videos, as well as a US tour beginning in September.
