It’s been 14 years since David Clarke has released an album. Despite this, he’s managed to maintain an innovating presence in the world of dance music. He stayed playing famous clubs like Fabric in London, or Berghain in Berlin and releasing mixes. But, no complete work was released since 2003’s Devil’s Advocate. According to Consequence Of Sound, nothing in his entire career can compare to his upcoming album, The Desecration of Desire.
Today comes the first single from The Desecration of Desire. “Charcoal Eyes Glass Tears” is a collaborative work with Mark Lanegan, known as a member of Screaming Tress and Queens of the Stone Age. Lanegan lends his signature gritty vocals to a thumping beat that only Clarke could have made. While this duo may seem unlikely, Lanegan has a long history of cross-genre collaborations.
The Desecration of Desire is due out October 27, 2017. Clarke describes The Desecration Of Desire as a more proper album, honing in on a variety of influences. “[Prior albums Devil’s Advocate and Archive One] felt like collections. This one’s more like a book, a chronology. I’m so happy with my studio. I’ve stayed away from club music. Finally, it’s just me, my imagination and a touch of fearlessness about opening up.”
