Behind the scenes footage gives insight to whatever art form it is revealing. People like the connection that it gives. Seeing behind the scenes videos has a way of closing the gap between fans and artists, sharing intimate footage relaying a sense of normal.

In a series of in-the-studio Instagram videos shared by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon early Tuesday morning, showed parts of Marijuana Deathsquads rehearsals. In a Pitchfork article, the rehearsals are said to be for an upcoming film and music event that will occur on Thursday. That performance is to show their interpretation of cinematic scores of the 1920s Dada films which is considered to be an ‘avant-garde’ movement of the way it signifies what modern artist should aspire to be.

Clips of those rehearsals can be viewed below. Vernon also shared on Instagram, a video that was shot in the bathroom during the same session.)

Marijuana Deathsquads is a Minneapolis-based noise band that features Ryan Olson of Gayngs, Isaac Gale, Stef Alexander (a.k.a. P.O.S), Ben Ivascu of Polica, Mark McGee of To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie, and Jeremy Nutzman (a.k.a.Velvet Negroni). Formed in 2009, the band released their first LP, Crazy Master. Their music is described as electronic, improvised and experimental sound.

The new collaboration with the Minnesota-based contemporary dance troupe TU-Dance was announced by Vernon and will take place in April of 2018. Vernon performed with the Revolution in Minneapolis last month as well as with a Bill Withers supergroup at the Newport Folk Fest.

The year may not be over but Bon Iver has their upcoming months already planned out. Starting in September, they will set off on a brief European tour and in October will participate in David Lynch’s Festival of Disruption.

This past weekend saw the band cancelling Days Have No Number, the all inclusive “concert vacation” in Mexico. The concert was only just announced 10 days earlier and was supposed to be at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico in January of 2018. Not only was the concert going to see Bon Iver performing three sets, it was also going to feature acts such as Sylvan Esso, POLIÇA, Francis And The Lights, Hiss Golden Messenger, Melt-Banana, Spank Rock, Aero Flynn, Phil Cook, and more.
