Scott Kelly of Neurosis Will Join Mastodon On Stage for Special Sets During European Tour

This is the first time Scott Kelly is going on a full tour with Mastodon. He did provide vocals for several Mastodon songs throughout their career.

Kelly masters guitar and lyrics for the hardcore punk band Neurosis. He has been writing and publishing music since 1985. Neurosis released the album Fires Within Fires in 2016.

Mixed in with a few solo albums and projects with Tribes of Neurot, Corrections House and Blood and Time, Kelly started recording music with Troy Sanders, Brent Hinds, Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor  of Mastodon. In 2004, Kelly featured in Mastodon’s first studio album,  LeviathanThat record was named album of the year by three different heavy metal magazines. It was also one of the most important recordings of the decade by NPR.

“Aqua Dementia” on Leviathan was the first of many songs that Kelly was a part of.

 He featured  in Mastodon’s next studio album Blood Mountain Later on, he worked on the title track from “Crack The Skye”, and on “Spectrelight”, “Diamond In The Witch House,” from “The Hunter”, “Once More ‘Round The Sun.” On Mastodon’s new album Emperor of Sand, Kelly is going to be featured in the song “Scorpion Breath.”

Mastodon has currently been promoting their seventh studio album. Once they tread their way through the rest of the United States and a few places in Canada, Kelly will join them as they go abroad.

Meanwhile, Mastodon is kicking off the second half of their massive 2017 tour that started in June.  They only have a few more stops in the United States before Mastodon and Kelly go to the United Kingdom. The heavy metal band has supporting shows featuring Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles.
