If you attended the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco this weekend, you probably went through a whirlwind of emotions after hearing A Tribe Called Quest reschedule their performance, then cancelling at the last minute the following day. Originally slated to headline Friday night, A Tribe Called Quest canceled the performance due to “unforeseen travel issues.” Organizers were quick to reschedule the group to Saturday night, but were let down again when they caught word that ATCQ wasn’t going to make the festival.
“We are deeply disappointed that we’ve just been informed A Tribe Called Quest will not make their scheduled performance at Outside Lands,” Tweeted the official Outside Lands Twitter account.

After seeing the impact their absence made on fans in San Francisco, the band made an official statement that offered an emotional explanation, and a promise to make up for the cancellation.
“We missed Friday but we found our “on” the following day. We wanted to play for you and we wanted to honor Phife’s wife in their hometown. Unfortunately, everything did not come together before the closing curfew. For that, we are deeply sorry. We look to correct this and regain your confidence.”
In July, ATCQ announced that their show at the Panorama Festival would be their final performance in New York. The rap icons also recently played in Los Angeles for the FYF fest with fellow headliners Frank Ocean and Erykah Badu.
