With the current generation’s need for instagratification, it is no wonder that the way people get their music, is not by physically going to the store and buying an album but going online and streaming music instantly. Streaming music is easier and a faster way to getting the music you want with a simple click of the mouse.
There are countless catalogs of music that are becoming available this way, both current and old school musicians are getting with the times and allowing their music to be available through streaming services. One of those big name singers is Neil Young but he is doing it his own way.
The singer is in the process of putting together his very own online streaming service which will house every song the singer has ever recorded since 1963.
He laid out his plan back in April, revealing that he was preparing a new high-definition streaming service called Xstream Music. Now, the singer revealed more details on the new project by posting on his digital archive in a pinned note
The new streaming service is essentially what Young wanted to do with his Archive box series. The archive series stopped coming out after the first volume was released back in 2009 which only invited fans to relive his music up to 1972.
Young is considered to be an audiophile so “To avoid the lack of high audio quality presented by today’s streaming technology, NYA is using Xstream Music high resolution streaming by OraStream, an idea that allows the listener to hear all of the music available at his or her current listening station,”
According to Young, “Most streaming services today have 2 or 3 tiers of quality. Xstream Music has 15,000 tiers and changes seamlessly to adapt to your current bandwidth and use all the data available. Because of that the music is always the best it can be.”
In the pinned note posted on his archive, Young writes that “The NYA timeline shows you when and how the music was made. Every single, recorded track or album I have produced is represented.”
The site will be simple to maneuver according to Young. “You can zoom in to the timeline and see a particular period in detail and pull back to view the surrounding years. View all albums currently released and see albums still unreleased and in production just by using the controls to zoom through the years.”
The new collection will start at the very beginning with the first song Young ever recorded in Canada in 1963. Young originally wanted to accompany the Blu-Ray versions of the box set but has since scrapped the idea and decided to go straight to digital.
The release date of the new streaming service by Young is still unclear but fans are crossing their fingers for something soon.
