Rex Brown of Pantera Explains in Interview that Vinnie Paul Is Not On Speaking Terms with Him or Philip Anselmo

Through an interview, Rex Brown has confirmed how the relation between current Pantera members are. Between the three Pantera members connections are well between Brown and Anselmo but both of them lack a connection with the drummer Vinnie Paul. This continuing connection between Brown and Anselmo is shown with collaborations and reuniting performances such as the 2013 Revolver Golden Gods, where both members performed “This Love” with Anthrax.

Pantera was a heavy metal band formed in Arlington, Texas by the Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell. A year later Rex Brown joined and replaced Tommy D. Bradford.  Then in the late 1986, Phil Anselmo joined and replaced Glaze. The band continued with producing albums, going on tour and having some complications until 2003 when the Abbott brothers broke up the band due to Anselmo’s busy schedule. After the break up, a new band was formed between the brothers, and through this, a lot of success was gained. But that road ended when Darrell was shot and killed by Nathan Gale, during a show at Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio.

There are still some exchanges between Brown and Paul, but its not that strong compared to Brown’s connection to Anselmo. According to Loudwire, he says  “Philip and I have been tight forever. Vinnie… You know, we’ve reached out a couple of times in e-mails and stuff like that, ’cause we still have business to run,” Brown says. “Vinnie is Vinnie, Philip is Phil, I’m me. But there’s no hard blood between Philip and I. It’s just… Vinnie will not speak with either one of us. So there you go.”

When asked about performing live again, Brown would love the idea of it but has a bigger hope that the two can sit down and talk. To these possibilities that the interviewer asked, Brown has said “never say never” multiple times.
