No matter the genre, it’s always great see classic albums celebrate their release anniversaries. For an album to be able to stand the test of time and become timeless pieces of work is a true blessing. It shows that whether it’s been a decade, two decades or more since its release, album anniversaries make us reflect how impactful its introduction to the world was and how big of a mark it left afterwards. Well it looks like rock band Stone Temple Pilots are ready to do it big for the upcoming 25th anniversary of their debut album Core this fall on September 29th.
It’s been 25 years since Stone Temple Pilots members Eric Kretz, Dean & Robert DeLeo, and the late Scott Weiland shared their first album Core to the world. Since its released the album has went on to sell 8 million albums and helped establish them as one of the most commercially successful rock bands in the ’90s. Well according to Rolling Stone, to celebrate the success of their freshman album Stone Temple Pilots plan to reveal rare tracks, unreleased demos and live recordings for a remastered 25th anniversary edition of their debut LP.
The reissue of Core will be available in different formats including 2-CD deluxe versions that contain a newly remastered version of the alternative-grunge classic, along with rare B-sides and previously unreleased demos. A limited package of massive Super Deluxe Editions include the remastered original album, over two hours of unreleased demos and live tracks which includes their 1993 MTV Unplugged performance, a vinyl copy of the original LP and a DVD containing a 5.1 surround sound mix and videos for singles “Sex Type Thing,” “Plush,” “Wicked Garden” and “Creep.” There will also be a limited-edition bundle of the deluxe edition that includes a bonus replica seven-inch vinyl single of “Plush” originally released in the U.K. in 1993. Finally the Super Deluxe Edition includes nine demos, with four dating between 1987 and 1990 when the band performed under the moniker Mighty Joe Young.
