Daryl Hall and John Oates are the legendary blue-eyed soul duo from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two had met in the late 60s while both attending Temple University in Philadelphia. Both leading their own bands, they soon separated and got together to start making music. It wasn’t until 1970 when the duo Marking their fame successfully throughout the 70s and 80s, their hits are one of a kind. Hall is usually the magic man behind the voice and keys, while Oates provides smooth tunes from his guitar and backing vocals. Hall and Oates’ mixture of soul, pop and rock along with the blues rhythm, is what made them stand out through their career.
The pair still holds the record of being the number one selling duo in music history that they attained in 1987. Among Hall & Oates’ various hits over the years, they achieved six #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: “Rich Girl,” “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do),” “Kiss On My List,” “Private Eyes,” “Out of Touch” and “Maneater.” Other hits that fans love from these idols are: “She’s Gone,” “Sara Smile,” “You Make My Dreams,” “Say It Isn’t So” and their outstanding cover of the Righteous Brothers “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’.” The duo made huge success nationwide, even making some achievement on the UK charts. Seven of their albums reached platinum status, while six of them reached gold. Throughout their career, they have sold over 40 million records.
