Linkin Park Cancel Summer Headlining Tour Dates and “Blinkin Park” Shows Following the Death of Chester Bennington

The blue summer sky seems a little more grey recently, after Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington committed suicide last Thursday at the tender age of 41. After releasing an official statement on the matter written as an open letter to Chester himself, concert promoter Live Nation announced that the band would be canceling their upcoming summer tour dates, including the shows with Blink-182 that they cleverly coined Blinkin Park.

“Blink-182 is wrecked by the loss of our friend and amazing musician Chester Bennington,” wrote Blink-182. “We could never imagine playing blinkin park without his incredible talent and voice. It just would not be possible. We send our deepest sympathies to his family, bandmates, friends and fans. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase.”

Live nation also expressed their condolences and wrote, “We are incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of Chester Bennington. The Linkin Park One More Light North American Tour has been cancelled and refunds are available at point of purchase. Our thoughts go out to all those affected.”

Some of the cities included in the itinerary for the tour were Boston, MS, Houston, TX, and Los Angeles.

Just hours prior to Bennington’s death, Linkin Park released a new music video for their song “Talking to Myself,” from their most recent album One More Light, the LP Linkin Park was supposed to be promoting on tour.

A few months ago in May, the lead singer responded to claims from “fans” who argued that Linkin Park was selling out because of their apparent change in sound, calling the haters “Fucking Pussy.” This attitude is one that will surely be missed.
