Marty Friedman, known as the lead guitarist of rock band Megadeth, is an American guitarist. Marty performed with Megadeth for over a decade before turning solo. When Marty Friedman lived in Tokyo, the guitarist starred in over 600 Japanese tv programs. Marty was highly popular overseas. During his tenure with Megadeth, the band was one of the highest successful rock band during the 90s. After Marty Friedman left the band, he went on to release 12 studio albums with various different labels.
After attending a KISS concert at age 14, Marty taught himself guitar. In 1988, Marty Friedman released his first solo album, Dragon’s Kiss. When his first band disbanded in 1989, Marty joined metal band Megadeth. Megadeth released their first album since Marty joined in 1990 titled Rust in Peace. The album was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 33rd Grammy Awards. Marty went on to record a total of five studio albums before leaving the band. Marty Friedman felt he couldn’t evolve while in the band. During Marty’s time with the band, Megadeth sold over 10 million albums. While in Megadeth, Marty did release three solo albums.
In 2010, Marty Friedman launched his own record label called Gokukara Records. While in overseas in Japan, worked with various tv shows as a writer for music. Marty Friedman wrote theme music for Sailor Moon Crystal, Karmen Rider x Karmen Rider while in Japan. Marty Friedman wrote as a columnist for various Japanese magazines and newspaper. Marty Friedman announced his next solo album, Wall of Sound to be released this summer.
