American folk band the Violent Femmes have been out and about this year. They recently dropped their new live album, 2 MICS & The TRUTH: UNPLUGGED & UNHINGED IN AMERICA, which saw the band journey through their catalogue, and was recorded at various public radio stations and media outlets as they were out supporting their ninth studio album, WE CAN DO ANYTHING. Back in April, they announced a co-headlining tour with Echo and the Bunnymen for 2017. The band of musicians made their way across the U.S., but they wanted to invite some more to the party.
At a show in NYC, the group brought out singer and one-half of The Dresden Dolls, Amanda F***ing Palmer. The singer was brought out for the band’s fan-favorite “Kiss Off,” and judging by the crowd, they were pretty excited.
Palmer comes out and starts hyping up the crowd as the track starts heating up. When the chorus drops, (“One, one, one cuz you left me”) both Palmer and the crowd are moving with energy. Palmer also reps a Black Flag-turned Bernie Sanders shirt, in case you were confused on if it was really Amanda Palmer.
While the videos are lower quality, you can catch some snippets of the guest appearance below. If they do it for you, the Violent Femmes still have plenty of tour left this summer. Palmer also dropped an album with Edward Ka-Spel, I Can Spin a Rainbow.
