This morning saw the release of not one, but two new Lana Del Rey singles off of her album due next week, Lust For Life. The two songs, “Summer Bummer,” and “Groupie Love” both feature rapper A$AP Rocky, while just “Groupie Love” features upcomer Playboi Carti. They are the third and fourth single off of the tape, following “Love” and massively successful “Lust For Life.”
For those who are somehow not familiar with Lana Del Rey, the American singer broke onto the scene in a big way with 2012’s Born To Die. She was noted for her cinematic style, and she was massively successful both on the internet and on the charts. The album debuted at number one and two in the U.K. and U.S., respectively. She continued to put out well received music and refine her style for four more albums, her last being 2015’s Honeymoon.
When first speaking about her fifth album, Lana Del Rey has said it would be a “different direction, with the same aesthetic” as her last work. Many fans have noted that her singles thus far have possessed a slightly more optimistic tone than those in the the past. One fan summed it up by comparing her first album and her latest single: “Born to die: ‘we were born to die’ Groupie love: ‘isn’t life wonderful?’” Lust For Life is set to release on July 21, 2017, and based on her past success, it will likely do extremely well. Not to mention her star-studded feature list, including The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, Stevie Nicks, and Sean Ono Lennon.
