Psychedelic dream pop masters Melody’s Echo Chamber have cancelled their 2017 tour citing a “serious accident” to the group’s mastermind Melody Prochet.

As Pitchfork first reported, the cancellation was announced by the singer-songwriter’s family with a note posted to her Facebook page. The note reads: “Melody suffered a serious accident earlier this month. We are optimistic, but she needs to be in the hospital for a few more months. Due to these circumstances, Melody’s upcoming Tour has been canceled. But she is hopeful to be able to play shows again soon.”

As of the writing of this article, no information has been published clarifying the nature of Prochet’s injury.

The accident is ill-timed, to say the least. Just shy of three months ago, Prochet and company had announced their second album, Bon Voyage, along with the new song “Cross My Heart.” This is slated to be their first album since their 2012 self-titled outing, and their first recorded output period since the 2014 single “Shirim.”

Despite the lack of official releases, Melody’s Echo Chamber has been quite active on the festival circuit the past two years, with well-received sets at Coachella 2016, Levitation Festival 2016, and Austin Psych Fest 2015.

Prochet’s fans are anxiously awaiting more information as this situation develops.
