It’s been three years since Foo Fighters last album, Sonic Highways hit stores. Their rock ways haven’t left them because the band is back with the announcement of a new album. Their ninth album, titled Concrete and Gold is set to be released on September 15th via Roswell Records / RCA Records.
Dave Grohl, lead singer of Foo Fighters expressed in a mission manifesto of the new album stating that; “I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin sense of melody and arrangement.” The blueprint was conceived as “Motherhead’s version of Sgt. Pepper…or something like it.”
Concrete and Gold is produced by Greg Kurstin who helped produced some amazing pop acts such as Adele, Pink and Sia. This is the first time that Kurstin and Grohl have teamed up. Grohl had been a fan of Kurstin since he first heard of his Indie Pop duo, The Bird & the Bee saying that “It blew my mind… it was so much more sophisticated than anything I’d ever heard and I became obsessed.” Since Grohl was eager to find fresh challenges for the band and Greg, who has never made a heavy rock band before, it seemed like a perfect fit. Grohl puts it: “Our noise and Greg’s big brain and all of his sophisticated arrangements and composition.”
Pre-order of Concrete and Gold is available digitally and on Vinyl.

Like the original California Jam before, Grohl’s vision will stay in the same spirit with a one day marathon of eating, drinking and music that will stretch out all day and night. The music fest will feature an extraordinary lineup including; Queens of the Stone Age, Cage The Elephant, Liam Gallagher, The Kills, Royal Blood, Japandroids, Wolf Alice, Bob Mould, The Struts, Bully, Circa Waves, Babes in Toyland, Adia Victoria, Fireball Ministry, The Obsessed, Pinky Pinky, Starcrawler and White Reaper. Music isn’t the only thing on the list of activities one can experience at Cal Jam, the one day fest offers a fun packed day full of camping, carnival rides, a water park, attractions, a mobile recording studio and much more. Cal Jam 17 will take place on October 7 in San Bernardino, California.
Foo Fighters will follow Cal Jam 17 with a full tour starting October and will go through December. Along with Cal Jam and their autumn tour, Foo Fighters will perform at the Voodoo Music and Arts Festival in October at the City Park, New Orleans, Louisiana.
