LA based garage-pop band The Regrettes dropped a new video for their song, “Seashore” Monday morning. The song is the third single off of their will received debut album, Feel Your Feelings, Fool! which was released in January. All songs on the album were written by front woman Lydia Night, who says they are all based on real experiences. At just 16, she has been playing music for years and is already making a name for herself. She is joined by Sage Chavis (age 19, bass) and Maxx Morando (age 18, drums); the three met at the School of Rock.
Directed by Claire Vogel, the video features singer Night depicting scenes of oppressed women throughout history. Vogel explains, “I wanted to pair the defiance of the lyrics with a handful of historical vignettes that embrace women taking control of situations that have held them back. I wanted each scene to hint at how people might have freely spoken their inner thoughts in those moments should they have had the privilege.” Night plays the role of characters historic and contemporary, everything from a woman being burned at the stake to a politician. The video is fun, and it’s message clear and timely.
The “Seashore” video comes just a day after the band kicked off a headlining tour across the U.S., which will be followed by a U.K. tour in the fall. See below for complete list of dates.
