New Orleans Psych-rock band Mutemath announced new dates for the “Play Dead Live” tour Monday via press release. Kicking off September 14th, the band will be hitting 29 U.S. cities as well as 8 dates in Europe. This is in addition to the 5 festivals they will be playing this summer (including Mamby on the Beach, Shaky Beats, and Bunbury.) To say that Mutemath has a busy rest of the year may be an understatement.
This announcement comes on the heels of Mutemath releasing a new single, “Hit Parade” off their forthcoming fifth album, Play Dead. It will be their second album released on Wojtek Records, their first being 2015’s Vitals. This time around, bassist Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas is leaving the lineup and being replaced by Jonathan Allen. It is yet to be seen how this lineup change will affect (if at all) the dynamic sound of Mutemath. According to the press release, the band took an “unhinged and unguarded approach” in the construction of Play Dead, drawing special inspiration from 2011 fan favorite, Odd Soul. Release date and more information will be announced soon.
Tickets for the “Play Dead Live” tour go on sale this Friday, with presale on Wednesday for AT&T customers.
Keep a watch on Mutemath on 2017 as they continue to bring their unique blend of psychedelic rock, pop, and vintage sounds.
