Alternative rock outfit MUTEMATH are back with the first single from their upcoming album Play Dead. The new single was released yesterday at midnight, following an extended sequence of Tweets to tease the announcement. The bass-heavy song borrows heavily from progressive rock, with symphonic instrumental passages and plenty of rich vocal harmonization. Hear the song below and keep an eye out for forthcoming details about the new album, including a release date and official track list.

Play Dead will be the band’s first new album since 2015’s Vitals. It will be released on Wojtek Records, the second full-length release on the record label after the band spent the early portion of their career on Warner Brothers.
MUTEMATH was formed in New Orleans back in 2002, and have released four full-length records in that time. The band, whose sound combines elements of soul, vintage rock ‘n roll and alternative music, peaked commercially back in 2009 with the release of their second studio album Armistice.
