The Afghan Whigs are a rock n’ roll band from Cincinnati, Ohio. Forming in the late year of 1986, the band had developed from one of the core members previous bands, The Black Republicans. The original quartet consisted of Greg Dulli on vocals and guitar, Rick McCollum on guitar, John Curley on bass and Steve Earle on drums.
Like most other older bands, the Afghan Whigs had a fallout in 2001 and the rumor was that they weren’t going to get back together. They briefly got back together in 2006 to record a few new songs, then parted ways yet again. Eventually, by 2011/2012 the group was back together and have been going ever since. The Afghan Whigs just released their newest record, In Spades, that was out on May 5th via Sub Pop.
