Big Boi has just released a new video for the song “Mic Jack,” off of his forthcoming album Boomiverse. The song features Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, and the two performed the song live on The Voice on Tuesday. Watch the music video below:
The video shows Big Boi arriving at a dry cleaner’s only to insistently ring the call bell and ask for his clothing. Adam Levine is working at the counter, and heads to the back to find the clothes. However, he doesn’t have any luck and ends up bringing Big Boi a variety of outfits that transport him into different scenarios, including a fur coat that takes him to a space station and a space suit that, appropriately, takes him to space. The video also includes the clichéd female-led, soapy car wash, and a dance sequence inside a cabin lodge. The video ends with Big Boi realizing he’s at the wrong dry cleaning spot.
The pair performed the song on NBC’s The Voice yesterday, which Adam Levine is a host for.
Boomiverse is Big Boi’s first solo album since 2012’s Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. Along with Levine, the album will also feature Jeezy and Killer Mike. Other than Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, Big Boi’s most recent project was a collaboration with Phantogram called Big Grams, which was released in 2015. Boomiverse is out in less than a month, on June 16 via Epic Records.
Big Boi is mostly known for being the other half in the duo that makes up Outkast, with his counterpart Andre 3000. The duo had an active career throughout the ‘90s and early 2000s before taking a hiatus from 2007 to 2013. They reunited in 2014, first at Coachella, and proceeded to play a 40-festival tour circuit. Although the touring was extensive, the pair did not release a new album.
